We are seeking applicants for an Accountant position with an excellent organization in the Triad. The Accountant will support the financial operations of the institution by managing general ledger activities, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, experience with higher education financial systems, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including journal entries, accruals, and adjustments
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders
Support budget development and forecasting processes, including variance analysis and cost tracking
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional financial regulations, including grant and fund accounting standards
Assist with audits, including preparation of schedules and documentation for internal and external auditors
Collaborate with departments to ensure accurate coding and reporting of financial transactions
Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, including reconciliations and vendor communications
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s preferred)
Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a higher education or nonprofit setting
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Workday, Blackbaud)
Strong knowledge of GAAP and fund accounting principles
CPA certification is a plus
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, vlookups, formulas)
Pay Details: $50,000.00 to $62,000.00 per year
