LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant with at least 5 years of experience in professional liability to work on a hybrid basis in Uniondale, NY. The ideal candidate will have a strong background supporting attorneys in the area of professional liability litigation, with the ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and demonstrate initiative in a fast-paced legal environment.
This full-time position requires a detail-oriented, proactive individual who thrives in a team-oriented, client-focused setting and is comfortable navigating evolving technology and legal processes.
Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys with preparation and finalization of legal documents related to professional liability matters (e.g., pleadings, discovery, correspondence, motions)
- Maintain case files and manage critical deadlines using case management software
- Coordinate attorney calendars, schedule meetings, and manage court appearances
- Communicate with clients, experts, and opposing counsel in a professional, timely manner
- Prepare, proofread, and format legal correspondence, court filings, and internal memos
- Process expense reimbursements using Chrome River
- Handle E-Filing and scanning of legal documents
- Provide administrative support for depositions, hearings, and client meetings
- Collaborate effectively with attorneys, paralegals, and administrative staff
- Minimum 5+ years of legal assistant experience in a professional liability litigation practice group
- Solid understanding of legal procedures, court rules, and deadlines related to professional liability cases
- Exceptional typing (55+ WPM) with strong grammar, spelling, and proofreading skills
- Organized, detail-focused, and capable of handling multiple priorities with minimal supervision
- Professional and discreet, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Familiarity with NetDocs and time entry software such as iTimeKeep is a plus
