We are currently seeking a dedicated Payroll Clerk to join our client’s Human Resources team in a hybrid role based out of Sorrento Valley, San Diego, CA. In this position, you will support the Payroll Specialist and assist with various payroll and HR-related tasks. The anticipated salary for this role is between $28-$32 an hour.

Responsibilities:

· Support the processing of bi-weekly employee payroll.

  • Maintain accurate records for meal periods, rest breaks, and timecard edits.

  • Review missed punch reports and collaborate with supervisors to ensure corrections.

  • Process payroll for employees on leave of absence.

  • Manage and process bonus requests.

  • Handle termination checks as needed.

  • Assist in the annual workers' compensation renewal and audit process.

  • Support the annual 401(k) plan audit.

  • Assist the Payroll Specialist with various special projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or payroll certification is preferred.

  • Previous experience in payroll is preferred but not required.

  • Skilled in using computer software, such as Excel and Word.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse workforce.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.

  • Ability to work independently and make informed decisions.
