About the Role

As the E&I Technician, you’ll handle installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting for the mill’s electrical and instrumentation systems. From motors and drives to sensors and PLCs, your work ensures the entire facility—production, maintenance, and converting—stays powered, safe, and efficient.

What You’ll Do:

Electrical Systems Maintenance

  • Troubleshoot and repair motors, MCCs, transformers, drives, and switchgear

  • Work with medium- and low-voltage power systems

  • Ensure plant lighting, wiring, and electrical panels meet NEC and safety codes

Instrumentation & Controls

  • Diagnose and program PLC and DCS systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Honeywell, etc.)

  • Tune control loops and support automation reliability

Preventive & Predictive Maintenance

  • Perform PMs and PdMs using vibration analysis, infrared thermography, and CMMS software

  • Assist with major shutdowns, upgrades, and equipment overhauls

Support for Converting Equipment

  • Repair and adjust electrical controls on slitters, rewinders, embossers, and packaging systems

  • Troubleshoot servo motors, sensors, and PLC integrations for converting machinery

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow OSHA, NEC, and NFPA 70E standards

  • Conduct arc flash assessments and ensure LOTO compliance

  • Keep accurate records of electrical schematics and maintenance logs

What We’re Looking For:

  • 5+ years of hands-on E&I experience in a pulp/paper mill or industrial environment

  • Strong knowledge of PLC/DCS systems and industrial automation

  • Skilled in working with 480V, LV, and MV systems

  • Able to read schematics and perform loop tuning and instrumentation calibration

  • Journeyman certification preferred; associate degree or tech training is a plus

  • Union experience a bonus
