LHH is looking for a Legal Assistant to become part of a team that supports Veterans in securing disability benefits.
Key Responsibilities:
Process daily mail and manage case-related documentation.
Communicate with clients via phone to provide updates and gather information.
Manage a caseload under the direct supervision of an attorney.
Prepare and review correspondence, appeals, and evidentiary documents for submission to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
Conduct legal, medical, government, and administrative research.
Assist in retaining and managing expert witnesses.
Utilize case management software to track case progress and documentation.
Perform other administrative tasks as assigned by attorneys and partners.
Qualifications & Skills:
Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
Outstanding customer service and communication skills (written & verbal).
Ability to problem-solve, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer use.
Strong spelling, grammar, and proofreading skills.
Ability to maintain professionalism, client confidentiality, and a positive attitude.
Adaptability, flexibility, and patience in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Veterans are strongly encouraged to apply.
Experience working with the VA or other federal agencies is a plus.
Prior experience in legal, administrative, or customer service roles.
Hourly $18-23 - 40 hours with benefits and a great work atmosphere.
