Jr. Project Manager / Project Manager - Mechanical HVAC

Location: Queens, NY

Salary Range: $65,000 - $110,000 (dependent on years of experience)

Position Overview

LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a motivated Junior Project Manager or Project Manager (depending on years of experience) to support the planning, coordination, and execution of mechanical/HVAC construction projects. This role is ideal for someone early in their career with 1-7 years of experience in mechanical construction, HVAC, or engineering. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, eager to learn, and ready to grow into a leadership role within our project management team.

Key Responsibilities

Project Support & Coordination

  • Assist in managing day to day project activities for mechanical/HVAC scopes.

  • Review drawings, specifications, and submittals with oversight from senior team members.

  • Support the preparation of schedules, procurement logs, and project tracking tools.

  • Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to maintain project workflow.

  • Participate in site walks and monitor field progress to ensure alignment with project plans.

Documentation & Communication

  • Prepare RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, and change order requests.

  • Maintain accurate project records, logs, and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Communicate project updates to senior project managers, field teams, and external partners.

  • Assist in preparing client updates, progress reports, and closeout documentation.

Financial & Contract Support

  • Support budget tracking, cost analysis, and forecasting under senior guidance.

  • Help review vendor and subcontractor proposals, purchase orders, and invoices.

  • Participate in value engineering discussions and cost saving initiatives.

Cross Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with field supervisors, estimators, engineers, and senior project managers.

  • Attend coordination meetings with clients, general contractors, and design partners.

  • Contribute to problem solving discussions related to installation, sequencing, and logistics.

Required Qualifications

  • 1-7+ years of experience in mechanical construction, HVAC contracting, engineering, or related field.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical discipline (preferred).

  • Basic understanding of HVAC/mechanical systems (piping, ductwork, equipment, etc.).

  • Familiarity with construction drawings, schedules, and technical documents.

  • Proficiency with MS Office; exposure to Bluebeam, Procore, or project management software is a plus.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication skills and a willingness to learn from senior leaders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in or supporting union mechanical/HVAC environments.

  • Internship or experience within mechanical contracting or engineering.

  • Exposure to estimating, design assist, or design build projects.
