Job Title: Payroll Assistant
Location: Fully Remote (need to be based out of CA, OR, or WA)
Hours: Part-time, Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 10 AM – 2 PM
Compensation: $23 - $25 an hour DOE
Duration: Indefinite Contract – Long Term
We have an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Assistant to join our client remotely. The ideal candidate will have experience in benefits reconciliation and payroll, with a strong attention to detail, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Job Overview (Key Responsibilities):
Excel formatting for various payroll-related reports
Reviewing timecards for accuracy, ensuring AM/PM accuracy
Investigating timecards and overtime for California employees
Following up on timecard approvals
Generating and formatting payroll-related reports in Excel
Collaborating with shift supervisors to identify timecard errors and secure necessary approvals
Making phone calls for tax jurisdiction applications
Providing coverage for the senior payroll accountant during leave for any payroll-related tasks
Communicating with different states regarding insurance and family insurance tax
Required Qualifications:
Experience in benefits reconciliation and payroll
Strong document management and note-taking skills
Strong proficiency in Excel (including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP)
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
Cultural Insights:
There are no specific written procedures in place, so flexibility is important
The work environment is constantly changing, requiring adaptability and self-motivation
The individual must be able to work with minimal supervision and be proactive
