Learning and Development Specialist


Location: Overland Park, KS


Position Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Learning and Development Specialist to join our client’s growing team! The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating training programs that support the professional development of our employees. This will be an onsite position in Overland Park and is Contract-to-Hire. We are seeking individuals that are excited to share their expertise and create a learning atmosphere that is embraced by all!


Duties and Responsibilities:


Here's the revised list of duties and responsibilities with the order changed and wording adjusted:


• Develop and deliver standardized system and process training through classroom methods.


• On-board employees and contingent workers to ensure they possess the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to meet customer expectations and enterprise goals.


• Consult with program participants and management to assess the impact of training programs. Review quality and performance records to identify opportunities for review and retraining needs that may be specific to associates.


• Respond to training requests from HR leadership.


• Provide feedback and conduct periodic retraining sessions where quality or performance issues are identified or when system or process changes necessitate training.


• Deliver customized training programs through classroom or other methods.


• Administer practical exercises to evaluate trainees' comprehension. Ensure training objectives and goals align with business objectives or client needs.


• Maintain and document all training records accurately.


• Research, author, publish, and maintain process and related documents in compliance with established content standards using various authoring tools (KMS, MS Word, Dreamweaver, Flare, etc.).


• Support various projects, including systemic improvements and enhancements to existing documentation flow and storage.


• Create and deliver content such as Facilitator Guides, Participant Workbooks, Worksheets, Job Aids, Exercises, Coaching Guides, blended learning modules, and e-learning modules to meet program-specific procedures, compliance, standard operating procedures, knowledge, and adherence.


• Focus learning interactions on competencies such as presentation, negotiation, communication, conflict resolution, and procedural knowledge.


• Play a key role in deploying and supporting strategic initiatives and enhancements from a learning perspective.


• Use clear communication and cross-functional process management skills to ensure the timely delivery of effective training programs and sessions that add value in supporting the goals and initiatives of the business.


• Support or participate in projects determined in conjunction with business partners, Directors, and/or Managers.


• Stay informed about new developments in training and instructional design and recommend modifications to our curriculum and practices.


• Solve complex problems and take a new perspective using existing solutions. Represent the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.


• Develop and maintain expert knowledge of critical tools and learning requirements.

Qualifications:


• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Education, Business Administration, or related field preferred.


• Previous experience in learning and development or a related HR role preferred.


• Strong understanding of employee training programs, including onboarding, professional development, and compliance training.


• Familiarity with learning management systems and training software; experience with HRIS and/or payroll systems is a plus.


• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate complex information to employees.


• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.


• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.


• Strong interpersonal skills and a customer-focused approach.


• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.


• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
