LHH Recruitment Solution is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist to work for an amazing Not for Profit Organization in Nassau County, Long Island.

This Accounts Payable Specialist will manage vendor invoices, maintain financial records, and support the finance team with reporting and audits.

This role requires a strong understanding of nonprofit accounting and the ability to allocate expenses across departments and funding sources.


Key Responsibilities

  • Process vendor invoices, verify accuracy, and ensure proper approvals

  • Enter invoices into the accounting system and maintain accurate records

  • Prepare and issue checks, ACH payments, and wire transfers

  • Reconcile accounts payable transactions and resolve discrepancies

  • Maintain organized digital and physical files for financial documentation

  • Communicate with vendors regarding payment inquiries and discrepancies

  • Assist in preparing monthly financial reports and audits

  • Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting policies and funding requirements

  • Assist in the preparation of 1099s and other tax-related documents

  • Allocate expenses across multiple departments and funding sources accurately

  • Support the finance team with additional tasks as needed


Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field

  • 2+ years of experience in accounts payable or bookkeeping (nonprofit experience a plus)

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct; NetSuite highly preferred)

  • Familiarity with nonprofit accounting principles and grant compliance preferred

  • Experience with third-party payment processors preferred

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information

  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent Team to work for with a great passion for what they do and where they work!

In Office. 830am-5pm/9am-5:30pm.

Salary 55-60K.



Pay Details: $55,000.00 to $60,000.00 per year
