We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client, a top global law firm, for a highly skilled litigation legal assistant to join their dynamic team in the Litigation department. This full-time position offers competitive compensation and an excellent benefits package.
Position Summary:
You will provide high-level legal support to a team of attorneys, offering a wide range of complex technical, document processing, and administrative services. The ideal candidate will demonstrate professionalism, technical proficiency, and the ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently. This role requires extensive coordination with clients and flexibility to work overtime as needed.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Schedule court appearances, depositions, arbitrations, mediations, client meetings, and conference calls.
Arrange business itineraries and coordinate travel arrangements for attorneys.
Coordinate the creation, editing, proofreading, and processing of legal documents, including correspondence, memoranda, pleadings, and other practice-specific documents.
Maintain and organize legal files (both paper and electronic) in designated order.
Update case information, scan, and organize legal files.
Manage document deliveries and track final executed documentation.
Receive and evaluate telephone calls for supported attorneys, fielding calls and conveying messages as necessary.
Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and liaisons.
Collaborate with Administrative Support Coordinators, Paralegals, and other legal support team members.
Attend team strategy meetings.
Leverage firm resources effectively to achieve desired results.
Assist with overflow work and other special projects as assigned.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong understanding of litigation laws as they relate to individuals, partnerships, and corporations.
Proficiency with court document filing rules(State and Federal).
Comprehension of various legal court documents, including complaints, answers, rulings, judgments, affidavits, motions, appeals, table of contents/authorities, subpoenas, court dockets, reports, memos, and correspondence.
High attention to detail, outstanding organizational skills, and the ability to manage time effectively.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), professional demeanor, and presentation.
Qualifications & Prior Experience:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a legal secretary, working in a business law practice with exposure to litigation.
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook, as well as document management and other office technologies.
Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, or agency rules of the assigned practice group/department (e.g., State and Federal court filing, including e-filings).
Experience with e-filing.
