Contract/Contract-to-Hire Insurance Defense Attorney
Location: Los Angeles, CA
Compensation: $75–$85 per hour
Job Type: Full-Time, Contract or Contract-to-Hire
Schedule: Hybrid (3 days onsite)
Overview:
LHH is partnering with a reputable insurance defense firm in Los Angeles seeking an experienced Insurance Defense Attorney to support an active caseload. This role is ideal for an attorney with strong litigation experience who can step into ongoing matters and work independently from day one.
Responsibilities:
Manage insurance defense litigation files from assignment through resolution
Draft motions, briefs, pleadings, and discovery
Take and defend depositions of parties, experts, and witnesses
Handle discovery disputes, including drafting and responding to motions
Conduct meet and confer efforts and ensure discovery compliance
Step in on active cases to support attorneys who are in trial
Attend hearings, mediations, and settlement conferences as needed
Communicate with clients, carriers, and internal teams regarding case strategy and updates
Qualifications:
J.D. from an accredited law school
Active California Bar license in good standing
Minimum of 3+ years of insurance defense litigation experience
Strong writing, research, and analytical skills
Experience with depositions, motion practice, and court appearances
Proven ability to manage multiple cases independently
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to integrate quickly into ongoing litigation matters
