LHH Recruitment Solutions is looking for an organized and detail-oriented Employee Screening & Compliance Specialist to join our client’s team on a contract basis.
Job Title: Employee Screening & Compliance Specialist/ Pre-Employment Screening Coordinator/ I-9 Compliance Specialist Location: Hybrid (Tuesdays & Thursdays in Houston, TX 77002) Contract Duration: 9 months (Mar 25, 2025 - Dec 31, 2025) Position Type: Contract Pay Rate: $22/hr - $25/hr depending on experience Location: Downtown Houston, TX 77002
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
In this role, you will assist in auditing and digitizing paper I-9 forms to ensure compliance with federal regulations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate records, handling confidential information, and ensuring compliance with all relevant laws.
Key Responsibilities:
Sort and audit paper I-9 forms according to updated reports.
Scan paper I-9 forms into PDF format for digital storage.
Work with PDF files to aggregate them into organized, large documents.
Ensure that all digital records are accurate and compliant with I-9 regulations.
Maintain confidentiality of all employee data and records in compliance with legal requirements.
Collaborate with project teams to meet deadlines and achieve compliance goals.
Prepare and review documents related to I-9 audits and compliance checks.
Assist in managing and tracking I-9 documentation to ensure timely and accurate filing.
Must-Have Qualifications:
Experience: 1-3 years in an Employee Screening, Compliance, or HR role.
Skills:
Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Teams.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive employee data.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience working with I-9 forms and ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
Ability to manage and track large volumes of data and documentation efficiently.
Experience working in a team-oriented environment and collaborating with multiple departments.
Work Environment:
Location: Hybrid – Required to work in the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays in Houston, TX 77002.
Normal office setting with minimal physical labor required (occasional lifting of objects under 30 pounds).
Some exposure to office risks and environment (e.g., paper cuts, office noise).

What We Are Looking for in a Candidate:
Experience:
1-3 years of experience in a Human Resources, People Coordination, or similar role with a focus on handling confidential employee data, pre-employment screening, or compliance-related tasks.
Experience with I-9 forms and compliance regulations is preferred.
Proven experience in managing large volumes of data and digitizing or organizing documentation.
Skills:
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Teams).
Mid-level experience working with PDF files and document management systems.
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with the utmost discretion and integrity.
Ability to quickly learn new systems and processes to ensure compliance and efficiency.
Education:
A high school diploma or equivalent required.
Additional education or certifications related to Human Resources, Compliance, or Administration is a plus.
Personal Attributes:
A detail-oriented mindset with strong focus on accuracy when working with employee data and documentation.
Strong communication skills to interact with colleagues and internal teams to ensure smooth operations.
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team setting.
Problem-solving skills and adaptability to quickly adjust to new tasks or shifting priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
Additional Information:
This is a contract role based in Houston, TX 77002, from March 25, 2025 to December 31, 2025. You will be required to work in the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
