LHH Recruitment Solutions has an opening for an Electrical Controls Engineer for our client in the Frederick, MD area.
We’re seeking a skilled and innovative Electrical Controls Engineer to lead the design, programming, testing, and deployment of advanced control systems for high-precision HVAC equipment focused on cooling and humidity regulation. This role plays a key part in ensuring our systems operate with optimal performance, safety, and compliance—supporting mission-critical environments for our customers.
Key Responsibilities
Create and refine electrical control architectures, including schematics, single-line diagrams, and panel layouts using SolidWorks Electrical.
Develop and configure PLCs, controllers, and HMI interfaces (e.g., Schneider Electric, Carel, Siemens S7, Allen Bradley, or similar platforms).
Generate comprehensive electrical documentation including BOMs, work instructions, and testing protocols for production teams.
Partner with cross-functional groups—design, engineering, manufacturing, service, and external reps—to define system specs and ensure smooth integration.
Execute and support validation and testing of systems to confirm performance and reliability.
Participate in equipment sign-off and change management processes for production and field deployment.
Evaluate existing units and recommend improvements to control logic, operational sequences, and product performance to enhance efficiency and user experience.
Diagnose and resolve issues in current control systems, addressing both hardware and software challenges.
Offer technical guidance to internal teams and customers, including remote troubleshooting and on-site support.
Assist with field installations and commissioning, providing support to contractors and representatives as needed.
Maintain and update technical documentation, ensuring code integrity and version control across manuals and drawings.
Ensure all systems meet applicable standards and codes including UL, NFPA, IEC, BACnet, and NEC.
Stay informed on industry trends and standards such as ASHRAE and AHRI.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
Minimum 3 years of experience in PLC programming and control system development.
Strong grasp of HMI programming and industrial communication protocols (e.g., BACnet, Modbus).
Experience with BMS and HVAC control systems is a plus.
Familiarity with electrical, pneumatic, and valve/switch systems in a manufacturing setting is preferred.
Proficiency in SolidWorks Electrical for control design and documentation.
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve control system issues.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Strong communication skills—written and verbal—for collaboration and documentation.
Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively in team environments.
Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Benefits / Schedule
Full-time exempt position
100k - 130k per year depending on experience
Monday - Friday
Less than 10% travel
401k match

Pay Details: $110,000.00 to $125,000.00 per year
