Staff Accountant (Temp-to-Perm)
Location: Florham Park, NJ
Schedule: Hybrid – 3 days onsite / 2 days remote
We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our accounting team on a temp-to-perm basis. This role will support key accounting operations including journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting, while working closely with the Controller and broader finance team.
This is a great opportunity for an accounting professional who is looking to gain hands-on experience in a collaborative environment with the potential for full-time conversion.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and post journal entries in PeopleSoft, including General Accounting (GA), Cash, Fixed Asset (FA) accruals, Balance Sheet entries, and Payroll-related journal entries.
Perform daily and monthly cash reconciliations, utilizing Cadency Matching to reconcile book activity against bank transactions and resolve discrepancies.
Assist with capital expenditure reporting by running and distributing capital spend reports to field operations and internal stakeholders.
Support the monthly close process, ensuring journal entries and reconciliations are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
Investigate and resolve reconciliation variances or unusual account activity.
Maintain organized documentation to support audit and compliance requirements.
Collaborate with members of the accounting and finance team to ensure accuracy and consistency across financial records.
Provide ad hoc accounting and reporting support as requested by the Controller.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
1–3+ years of accounting experience (internships or public accounting experience a plus)
Experience with PeopleSoft or other ERP systems preferred
Strong Excel skills and comfort working with financial data
High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
Pay Range: $30/hr-$35/hr
