Job Description:

The Commercial Construction Estimator will play a critical role in the pre-construction phase of our projects, providing accurate cost estimates for commercial construction projects. You will work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients to ensure that projects are competitively priced, meet budget expectations, and align with client specifications. This role requires a strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and labor costs, as well as the ability to analyze blueprints and specifications to create detailed and accurate estimates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review project plans, drawings, and specifications to understand the scope and requirements of each commercial construction project.
  • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services.
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, and engineers to ensure all aspects of the project are accounted for in the estimates.
  • Analyze historical data, including previous project costs, to help predict and establish accurate pricing.
  • Solicit and evaluate quotes from subcontractors and suppliers to incorporate into estimates.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to ensure competitive pricing and quality service.
  • Assess potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them in the cost estimation process.
  • Work with clients to clarify project requirements and ensure their expectations are met.
  • Assist in the preparation of bid proposals and presentations for prospective clients.
  • Monitor the progress of construction projects and adjust estimates as necessary to reflect changes in scope or unforeseen issues.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends, new materials, and construction technologies to improve cost estimation accuracy.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor???s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably in the commercial sector.
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and industry standards.
  • Proficient in estimating software (e.g., ProEst, Buildertrend, or similar tools) and MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills, with an attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Experience with cost analysis, value engineering, and bid preparation.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of local construction codes, regulations, and industry standards.
