Associate - Investment Origination (12 month Fixed Term Contract)

Based: Edinburgh or Glasgow

The Scottish National Investment Bank is seeking an Associate to join our Investment Origination team, helping to shape investments that deliver long-term financial and strategic impact for Scotland.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Bank's investment team, supporting origination and execution across a diverse portfolio of transactions. You will play a key role in financial and impact modelling, due diligence, and transaction management, helping to drive investments that align with the Bank's mission-led approach.

We encourage all candidates who believe they can excel in this role to apply, even if you do not tick all the boxes. We value diverse experiences and perspectives, and your unique background could be a great addition to our team. We thrive on collaboration, support flexible working, and aim to build a fairer, more sustainable, and innovative Scotland.

About You

  • Experience in investment, transaction advisory, corporate finance, or a related field, with a solid foundation in financial analysis and modelling.

  • A highly motivated self-starter, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Developed analytical and commercial skills, with experience structuring and presenting investment opportunities.

  • A collaborative approach, with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

  • A keen interest in mission-driven investment and the ability to assess opportunities through both financial and impact lenses.

  • A degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field is desirable, as is a professional qualification such as CFA or CA (or working towards one).

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the origination and assessment of investment opportunities, contributing to investment papers and presentations.

  • Develop and refine financial, commercial valuation, and impact models to support decision-making.

  • Conduct research and due diligence to evaluate risks and opportunities in potential transactions.

  • Lead on investment administration, including system updates, document management, and KYC processes.

  • Engage with industry stakeholders to build professional networks and support active deal origination.

  • Contribute to firm-wide initiatives and projects that enhance the Bank's investment approach.

At the Scottish National Investment Bank, you will find a supportive and collaborative culture, with opportunities for professional growth and meaningful work.

On offer is a salary range of £51-59k, depending on your level of experience. In addition, we offer 30 days annual leave plus public holidays, a 12% non-contributory pension, access to EV and Green Commute Cycle to Work Schemes, volunteer days, and much more. We operate a hybrid working model and are open to discussing flexible working patterns.

If you are eligible under the Disability Confident Scheme, or need any adjustments to support your application, such as information in alternative formats or access requirements, please reach out to us. Our commitment is to provide the support you need to participate fully in our recruitment process.
