Job Advert: Private Client Associate


Location: Basingstoke Experience Level: 3+ Years PQE Employment Type: Full-time


Are you a dedicated Private Client Associate looking to make a meaningful impact within a dynamic team? Our client, a well-respected law firm, is seeking a talented individual to join their Wills and Estate Planning Team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a busy practise, providing exceptional service to clients while mentoring junior staff.


Key Responsibilities:


Probate


  • Take instructions from clients to obtain relevant grants, administer estates in accordance with Wills or Intestacy laws, and advise on tax implications.
  • Ensure timely distribution of estates as per job objectives.
  • Offer guidance to fee earners and clients on all testamentary matters.

Wills


  • Consult with clients to draught Wills and supplementary testamentary documents, addressing ancillary issues such as taxation.
  • Oversee the registration, storage, retrieval, and destruction of Wills.
  • Advise team members and clients on testamentary issues.

Trusts


  • Consult on trust matters, create, and administer trusts as instructed by clients.
  • Provide advice to other fee earners and clients regarding trusts.

Enduring and Lasting Powers of Attorney and Court of Protection


  • Register Enduring Powers of Attorney with the Court of Protection.
  • Advise on, draught, and register Lasting Powers of Attorney, as appropriate.
  • Manage Court of Protection applications and deputyship matters.

Team Mentoring and Support


  • Support junior team members with client matters and take the lead on complex cases.
  • Mentor trainees and junior staff, fostering their professional development.

Business Development


  • Network locally, in the South of England, and London to build and strengthen partnerships.
  • utilise networking skills to actively grow and expand your caseload.

General Duties


  • Undertake additional tasks as required by the Partners or Head of Department.
  • Market and develop the firm's services.
  • Maintain membership and standards of STEP / SFE / PS.
  • Contribute to the effective implementation of a Case Management System.
  • Promote cross-referrals to other departments within the firm.

Requirements:


  • Minimum of 3 years PQE in Private Client work.
  • Knowledge of trust work preferred, but not essential.
  • Confident networker with a proven ability to build your own client base.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of fostering relationships both internally and externally.
  • Passion for mentoring and supporting junior staff.
